Days of Creation, Ringsfield Hall

Overview
Starting at the most easterly point in the UK, the route goes through Lowestoft, then onto the marshes. It then follows the River Waveney to Beccles. The town has many ancient and fascinating buildings. Once through Beccles, the path goes through open countryside. Easy walking.

From the Ness, turn south towards the wind turbine, walking along the sea wall. At Hamiltons Dock, turn right (R) pass the wooden Lifeboat shed towards the town. Turn left (L) before Whaplode Road, crossing the A12 at Battery Green road. Turn L into Gordon Road. Pass bus station on left hand side. Cross Clapham Road south, then cross the car park, diagonally. Cross the pedestrian crossing onto Stanley Street, then follow blue signs to Oulton Broad and Normanston Park. Then turn L onto Walton Road, R onto Norwich Road. Turn R onto Rotterdam Road. (not signed at this junction). Opposite the Mariner’s Rest, turn L up footpath following blue signs as before. Cemetary on right hand side. Walk through Normanston Park, across road using pedestrian crossing and continue to cross park. Keep following the blue signs, cross railway by foot bridge. When you reach Lake Lothing, turn right along shore line. Turn R up Craftsman’s Way, then R on Sea Lake
Road. Turn R onto Harbour Lane. Cross railway line. Turn R towards road bridge, cross roundabout on Bridge Road. Turn R down Marsh Road opposite St Marks church. At bottom of Road, turn R (do not enter Broadland Village Park) onto Angles Way.
Along the Angles Way to Beccles Lane bends to right, but go straight on following footpath between two hedges. Cross stile into field. Then follow Angles Way signs straight on to Wild Life Park and continue following Angles Way signs till you reach the River Waveney.
Turn left and walk along bank till you reach Beccles.
Route through Beccles – Go under road bridge, cross the green diagonally till you reach the Quay cafe and toilets. Turn towards town on Fen Lane, cross Ravensmere, and onto Northgate towards the
church tower. Turn right onto New Market then enter Ballygate until edge of town. Cross Bungay road, onto Ringsfield Road. Sir John Leman School on L.
Route to Ringsfield
At bottom of sports field, road goes to L. Go straight ahead on Bridle Way (BW) on R. Keep on BW, ignoring all other signs. At end of BW, turn left on the road towards Ringsfield. At bend, just before the church, turn right on BW towards Old Hall and Old Hall Barn. Continue on BW past houses on L. Where BW branches off to L over concrete farm bridge, continue straight ahead. At road turn L towards Ringsfield Hall.
